Odyssey is an intercultural e-mail game.
The name is its mission. The goal is not important, but discovering and understanding
different countries along the way.
The rules: 3 to 4 classes send each other mail once
per week. In the first three weeks of play the participants do not
know where in the world the others are. Each class receives a code
name, (e.g. Captain Cook, Don Quichote, Danton. More information
on the codenames will follow.
The discussion themes for the first three weeks are
predetermined ( e.g. a famous personality comes from our town.) The
idea is to find out by the information included in the received emails
, where the others might be. Of course the own texts sent out must
be coded as well. During the fourth week the undiscovered places
will be revealed and the game will be scored.
The game is very motivating. There is lots of writing,
reading and discussing
You will find a teacher’s handbook with methodolocigal
and didactic remarks and tips, a student handbook with weekly plans
and concrete tasks to be assigned, a registration form and an information
sheet for friends and colleagues.
Have fun!
